Sale of Kilburn State

Following the implimentation of the smoking ban in public places, Rank Mecca has decided to sell its freehold interest in the Kilburn State and contracts were to be exchanged on or around 12 September 2007.
Rank Mecca has declined to give any indication of who might be buying the grade two listed building and Wurlitzer organ or the prospective purchaser’s intention for the building. In the absence of hard fact, many rumours are in circulation.
It is unlikely that English Heritage will relax its listing or that Brent Council will alter the planning classification as a place of public entertainment. The area covered by the Association is: Buckley Road, Burton Road, Callcott Road, Clarence Road, Dunster Gardens, Dyne Road, Plympton Road and Avenue, Streatley Road, Torbay Road, Waterloo Passage, the North Side of Willesden lane to the railway line and the West side of Kilburn High Road from Willesden Lane to the railway line.
