Household safety: Fire checks

There have been two  house fires in the BRAT area within the last four months.  It is perhaps timely to remind everyone how easy it is to have a FIRE CHECK from the FIRE SERVICE.  This means that officers from the Fire Brigade visit to give advice about smoke detectors, escape routes and general advice about avoiding fires.

Death of former Councillor Noel Thompson

Noel Thompson, who was Brent Council Councillor from March 1999 until May 2006, has died following a lengthy battle against Leukaemia.  Noel died in St Luke’s Hospital in Kenton.  He was cremated in a private, family, humanist service on 31 August.  Noel worked closely  with residents and residents associations in Kilburn especially on local development issues and we know many people benefited and appreciated his support.  Donations can be made to the Paul Daisley Trust of St Luke’s Hospice.

Waterloo Passage

Residents, Councillors and Brent Council have lost patience with the dumping of rubbish along Waterloo Passage.  It has been decided that the large wheeled bins are to be removed and businesses will have to retain their waste within their site or face prosecution.  The passage is now receiving a regular sluicing but this is impeded by the quantity of rubbish being dumped there.

Scout Hut

BRAT does not know what is planned for the Streatley Road Scout Hut.  The Scout Association has now sold it but we don’t know who has bought it.  No planning application has been submitted to the council.
